Out of the Dark Ages… A New Approach to Health
So, what was there secret?
Training methods. Whole natural nutrient dense foods and correct ratio of protein, carbohydrates and fats in each meal Nutrition and sleep are the largest part of a healthy body. What we do, how we play and the foods we eat define our lives. These three practices done well and a good night’s sleep surely follow; done poorly, and it’s nightmares for us.
What I’m mentioning to you all
I’m confused about the various articles relaying Larry Scott’s nutrition and training programs or even any. Which ones were accurate? “Do, we know if any of them are”, “Okay so what about Larry’s nutrition and training programs. What I do know is that the information that Larry Scott has told me is not the same. So what is the truth in all those magazines all I can say is they are not the same articles he has given me. A lot of different articles have been written about Larry’s training routines, some accurate and others the figment of someone’s imagination. The truth is Larry followed several different programs. Larry gives an excellent account of his training in his book “Loaded Guns”. If you haven’t read it you need to find a copy. It’s a great book and a “must have” for any fan of Larry Scott’s. Everyone knows Larry made the Preacher Bench, used at Vince’s Gym, famous (thus some have called it the Scott Bench), but there are a lot of other things true fans of Larry’s may not know. He presents a lot of valuable information in “Loaded Guns”.
Here are some of his training programs.
Beauty and the Beast, Bulk and Strength Straight Sets, Core Bulk and Size, Muscularity, Super Set Muscularity, Straight Sets, Body Perfect Compound Push Pull, Larry Scott Instinctive, Jesse Erving Instinctive, Larry has told me he has about 400 different training routines in his library.

& Rheo H Blair
One fine spring afternoon in 1969, I hopped on the 405 freeway and sped merrily to Long Beach to visit with Rheo Blair, my friend through my good friend Larry Scott. The vehicle was my hopped-up-jewel blue dune buggy and the passenger was my hopped up spirit muscle and might 21 year old Austrian companion in a torn t-shirt , the governor. Zoom Zoom. Rheo, a self made nutritionist whose specialty was building lean mass, considered it a life or death matter to meet Arnold and offer him a basket of his popular food supplements as a welcome to America gift. How could I refuse?
“Thanks Rheo” in broken English, “You are American champion. We must go”. The fiberglass dunne buggy was topless and reminded me of a freeway surfboard. It skidded about us as I weaved my way home through traffic at what seemed like incredibly high speeds: nothing was in focus but the setting sun. Arnold sat in the back seat, which was raised like a throne to accommodate the screaming engine below, clutching a chrome roll bar for support. More than once he stood up and roared at the cars to the left and the right with a clenched hand raised high punching the air, his hair straight out, eyes squinted and tearing and a grin as big as his biceps pumping up his face–a warrior commanding his chariot. A generous supply of Blair’s Protein, choline and inositol sat on the floor beside us, our booty, the secret stuff of muscles in a box. Thank God life is made up of moments such as these. Let someone else govern California, the lads busy. We made it home unscathed in time for squats. – Dave Draper
“I strongly advise against the Steroid path”
It’s a down hill slide into impaired health and who knows what other problems. Not only that it cheats you of learning all the little secrets about training technique that you would otherwise be required to discover. -JESSE ERVING L.S.C.T.
With so many illegal steroids available online and on the street it is no wonder that so many bodybuilders become ill in their 20′s, 30′s, 40′s, and beyond from complications due to the eerie side effects from steroid use during one’s life. Bottom line is steroids kill and will continue to kill as long as they are taken. There is no such thing as a safe steroid. There is however a safer way to build muscle in today’s world. For instance Larry Scott Nutrition Products. based in State of Utah is one company who offers the finest line of premium all natural bodybuilding and fitness supplements. The “Larry Scott Nutrition Products’Supplements“ which can be found HERE at http://www.1ringoffire.com is formulated steroid free and guarantees muscle growth as well as customer satisfaction. So still thinking about the easy way out huh? Lets take a brief look at the damage steroids do.
There is increasing concern regarding possible serious health problems that are associated with the abuse of steroids, including both short-term and long-term side effects. The short-term adverse physical effects of anabolic steroid abuse are fairly well known. Short-term side effects may include sexual and reproductive disorders, fluid retention, and severe acne. The short-term side effects in men are reversible with discontinuation of steroid use.
Masculinizing effects seen in women, such as deepening of the voice, body and facial hair growth, enlarged clitoris, and baldness are not reversible. The long-term adverse physical effects of anabolic steroid abuse in men and in women, other than masculinizing effects, have not been studied, and as such, are not known. However, it is speculated that possible long-term effects may include adverse cardiovascular effects such as heart damage and stroke.
Steroids played a role in the deaths of several pro wrestlers since 1997, according to medical examiners, family members and the wrestlers themselves, including:
» Curt Hennig, 44, died of acute cocaine intoxication in February 2003, medical records show. But his father said last year that a lethal combination of steroids and painkillers contributed to his death.
» “The British Bulldog,” Davey Boy Smith, 39,died in 2002 in Canada of an enlarged heart with evidence of microscopic scar tissue, possibly from steroid abuse, a coroner said. “Davey paid the price with steroid cocktails and human-growth hormones,” says Bruce Hart, a veteran trainer who worked with Smith and was his brother-in-law.
» Louie “Spicolli” Mucciolo, 27, died from coronary disease in his San Pedro, California, home in 1998, according to his autopsy. Investigators found an empty vial of the male hormone testosterone, pain pills and an anxiety-reducing drug. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office determined the drugs might have contributed to his heart condition.
» Richard “Ravishing Rick Rude” Rood, 40, died from an overdose of “mixed medications” in Alpharetta, Ga., in 1999, his autopsy shows. In 1994 he testified that he had used anabolic steroids to build muscle mass and relieve joint pain.
» “Flyin’ “Brian Pillman, 35, was taking painkillers and human-growth hormones when he died from heart disease in 1997, his widow said several years ago. Investigators found empty bottles of painkillers near his body in a Minnesota hotel room.

It shocks me to think that people call themselves bodybuilders and honestly have no idea about how it all started, and what really went down over the last 100 years. I mean, every football player in the United States can talk about Johnny Unitas, Joe Namath, and tons of guys from the past (even quoting their stats) but with bodybuilding, the average enthusiast can’t even talk about what happened in the ’90s!
I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not interested at all in pro-bodybuilding, other than because of the fact that more steroids are involved in it than any other field in the world. If you’ve forgotten, I write about steroids, although the online steroid-using community is pretty much 99% bodybuilding enthusiasts (the other 1% are actually bodybuilders, i.e. they compete). Most people just accept the stories they read online or in magazines, without understanding the truth behind it.
My message: The time is right. Get to the gym, warm up — roll around on the floor, whatever it takes — slyly tinker with the dumbbells and the machines and allow your old self to take over the controls without expectations or destinations — today and tomorrow and the next day, it’s all good. In a few weeks, as the rhythm returns and the aches and pains and stiffness go away, or, more rather, diminish, you’ll be glad you did.
One last thing. Clean out the refrigerator and kitchen cabinets, no more pop and junk foods, eat regularly and wisely and make certain you take plenty of protein. Yum! One more delight added to the joys of lifting the iron. Is there no end?
Just Go… Godspeed… Spread the word!…Jesse
